Annual Oregon Lavender Photo Contest

Capture the Magic of Lavender in Rural Oregon
Inviting photographers to capture the allure of lavender bursting into color in the many lavender fields throughout Oregon

2010 First Prize Winner by Qua Veda Members of the Oregon Lavender Association announce an annual photography contest because we believe that the beauty of lavender merits a quest for the perfect picture.

The many moods, colors and varieties of lavender provide an intriguing subject for the professional as well as the amateur photographer. Lavender can be found in landscapes throughout Oregon as well as at the Lavender farms and nurseries on the Lavender Festival tour. Many of these sites are open to photographers in the weeks before the festival (click here for the list of farms open to photographers). Since lavender begins blooming mid June and most fields of lavender are in their peak bloom in July, the window of opportunity for catching the brightest hues is limited. Our deadline for submitting photos is August 1st each year.

Applicants are required to submit their photos electronically with their application. These will be reviewed by professional photographers for appropriateness, after which finalists will be notified and given the opportunity to submit mounted photographs for judging (not required). The Oregon Lavender Association may use digital copies of the photographs to promote lavender as an agri-business in Oregon. Photos may appear in our many publications including posters, rack cards, maps, brochures, on our website, and in other advertising materials.

There will be a display of the previous year's winning entries at Applegate Valley Lavender Farm, Barn Owl Nursery, and McKenzie River Lavender during the Lavender Festival.
