Annual Oregon Lavender Photo Contest

Capture the Magic of Lavender in Rural Oregon
Inviting photographers to capture the allure of lavender bursting into color in the many lavender fields throughout Oregon

Lavender Photo Members of the Oregon Lavender Association announce an annual photography contest because we believe that the beauty of lavender merits a quest for the perfect picture.

The many moods, colors and varieties of lavender provide an intriguing subject for the professional as well as the amateur photographer. Lavender can be found in landscapes throughout Oregon as well as at the Lavender farms and nurseries on the Lavender Festival tour. Many of these sites are open to photographers in the weeks before the festival (click here for the list of farms from the 2010 lavender festival). Since lavender begins blooming mid June and most fields of lavender are in their peak bloom in July, the window of opportunity for catching the brightest hues is limited.

Applicants are required to submit their photos electronically with their application. These will be reviewed by professional photographers for appropriateness, after which applicants will be notified to submit mounted photographs for judging. The digital copies will become the property of the Oregon Lavender Association and may be used to promote lavender as an agri-business in Oregon.

Entries for the 2011 contest will be on display at Helvetia Lavender Farm during the 2011 Lavender Festival (dates yet to be determined).

The 1st annual lavender photography contest is now closed - however you may still upload a photo for entrance into next years contest.
